James Phelan is the Chief Financial Officer of The Ratkovich Company. He joined the Company in June of 2001 as a summer intern while earning his Masters in Business Administration from The Anderson School at UCLA. James is responsible for the financing of the Company’s operations, overseeing the financial analysis of each opportunity, and the placement of debt and equity for each project. He is also responsible for managing the Company’s acquisition and disposition processes.

Prior to business school, James was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps where he served as the O&MMC Budget Officer for the Third Marine Aircraft Wing. James is a member of ULI and addicted to bringing old, run-down single family homes back to life.

Favorite TRC Project: 5900 Wilshire. Bringing such an iconic building back to life has been a truly gratifying experience.

Favorite City: Los Angeles. Los Angeles is the greatest city in the world. Where else can you experience such a diverse array of people, cultures, and the arts all while living in perfect weather?

Favorite Cause: The Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project provides assistance to the men and woman in our armed forces who have been injured in the line of duty.
